The leather sofas have arrived. The flat screen TV is crystal clear. The cookies are scrumptious! The new Welcome Center at Millersville University is now up and running. Located on the first floor of Lyle Hall, the entire area has received a make-over that includes interactive computer kiosks.

As of the fall 2008 semester, a writing studies minor and option will be available at Millersville. The option is for English majors, while the minor is open to all students.

Tops At Animation Festival
Two recent Millersville University of Pennsylvania alums placed first in the 2008 West Virginia Flash Animation Festival, beating out some of the top schools in the country including Tyler, Cleveland Institute of Art, Kutztown, Penn State, Pittsburgh and Virginia Tech.

Local Experience to be Discussed at Third World Meeting
The Association of Third World Studies (ATWS) is holding its organization’s 26th annual meeting at Millersville University on October 26-28. The theme of the conference is “Voices of the Subaltern: Identities, Hierarchies and Social Struggles in a Globalizing Age.”
Recent Millersville Alum Wins Competition
May graduate Altaress Craig, of Mountville, Pa., was recently awarded for her work at the Capital Region Economic Development Corporation in Harrisburg. Under the guidance of Dr. Minoo Ghoreishi, business administration, Craig submitted her business plan entitled "Clipse Style Salon" and was awarded a $2,000 check and a trophy for her work in the undergraduate division of the competition.
