MU TRACK & FIELD TEAMS OPEN OUTDOOR SEASON AT CCU INVITATIONAL
March 14 – Long-distance runner Jessica Leddy (jr. Hempfield) turned in the top performance for the Marauders finishing third in the 10,000-meter run on the first day of the season-opening Coastal Carolina Invitational in Conway, South Carolina Friday afternoon.
Leddy completed the race in a time of 41:00.08 and finished just under six and a half minutes behind race winner Ann Alyanak of Brooks University (34:31.83).
Other finishers on the women’s side included Lindsay Clark (jr. Kennard-Dale) who finished 24th in the hammer throw with a distance of 33.66 meters. Heather Miller (fr. North Western Lehigh) picked up a 23rd place finish in the javelin throw recording a distance of 27.27 meters.
In the 3,000-meter run, Samantha Mulvey (fr.) grabbed a 14th place finish completing the race in a time of 10:41.88.
On the men’s side, Matt Simkins (fr. Emmaus) grabbed an 18th place finish in the 3,000-meter run (9:17.19), while Zach Kelchner (fr. Nazareth Area) finished 21st (9:20.44) and Jeff Rafach (fr. Hanover Area) crossed the tape in 31st (9:56.73).
The second day of action at the CCU Invitational will take place tomorrow beginning at 2 p.m.
