JENNINGS WINS THREE PSAC CHAMPIONSHIPS; NAMED WOMEN'S TRACK CO-ATHLETE OF THE MEET
May 3 – Millersville University distance runner Priscilla Jennings (jr. Solanco HS) was named Co-Athlete of the Meet for women's track after winning three events at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships held at Indiana (Pa.) University.
Jennings posted her second NCAA automatic qualifying time of the season by completing the 800-meter run in 2:10.22, good for a first-place finish. That time also set a new PSAC meet record, eclipsing Marty Marczak's (Edinboro) 2:10.23 set 16 years ago.
She recorded an automatic bid to the national tournament earlier this season in the 5K.
Jennings also won the 1500 (4:40.08/NCAA provisional time) and the 3000 (10:19.13).
The women's team had 14 athletes qualify for the meet and placed ninth out of 13 teams. Last year, the team saw seven athletes qualify and placed eighth.
Also scoring points for the women's team were Brittney Zuver (so. Central York HS), who placed fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:34.5, and Rachel Hull (so. Hempfield HS) with her eighth-place finish in the 1500 (4:52.79).
The men were paced by sixth-place finishes from Derrick Bass (so. York Suburban HS) in the long jump (6.91 meters) and James Boyer (so. Mechanicsburg Area) in the 3000-meter steeplechase (9:45.4).
Also scoring team points for Millersville were Adam Malloy (sr. Ephrata), who placed seventh in the 800 (1:57.41), Denis Quirk (sr. Kennard-Dale HS), who finished seventh in the javelin (58.05 meters), and Adam Kravatz (jr. Exeter HS), who placed eighth in the pole vault (4.5 meters).
The men's team saw 13 athletes qualify for the meet and finished 12th out of 13 teams. MU had six athletes qualify last season and finished 10th.
A few Marauder athletes will compete at the New York Challenge in Randall's Island on Sun., May 11 before the NCAA Tournament, which will be held Thur., May 23 through Sat., May 25 at Cal Poly Pomona.
