Tax Deductions
Millersville University and the Millersville University Foundation are both 501(c)3 tax-exempt organizations. Consequently, the type and structure of your gift to Millersville University may provide you with a charitable income tax deduction. Please reference the specific

Income through time
Certain gifts can provide income for the donor now and a benefit to Millersville University’s students and programs later. When assets are not readily liquid, or if you desire income for life or a specified number of years, some planned giving tools will work well for you. Setting up a charitable gift annuity or one of several types of charitable remainder trusts may provide you a tax advantage and steady income at a favorable rate compared to conventional investments. Naming Opportunities
Building facilities and establishing endowments provide opportunities to recognize those whose leadership gifts support priorities at Millersville University. In many cases named classrooms, labs, buildings, endowments or scholarships honor the life or memory of a loved one.
Naming opportunities for capital projects
New or significantly renovated facilities offer naming opportunities for gifts valued at approximately half of the total cost of the project. Sites within new construction or renovated buildings, such as classrooms, labs and wings, can also be named. Costs associated with these opportunities are usually detailed within the project itself.

Naming opportunities for endowments and/or scholarships
A threshold of $25,000 is needed to endow a fund for any purpose including equipment, scholarships etc., and name the fund in honor or memory of a loved one.
Named scholarships that are not endowed must be funded annually to continue to serve the financial needs of students based on specific criteria.
