The Department of History offers courses in U.S. and world history and major degrees in both the liberal arts and secondary education. In addition, it offers applied history, which enables students to learn skills in historical editing, museum work and other related areas. A history minor is also available to the non-history majors. The department's program in secondary education provides teaching certification. Academic counseling is available for students choosing careers in history. COURSE REQUIREMENTS History Major (B.A.) : 120 semester hours HIST 101, 102, 105, 106, 406. Then 27 semester hours of history electives according to departmental guidelines with at least 9 semester hours of these at the 300 level or above. History Minor : 18 semester hours Students who choose a minor in history are required to take a minimum of 18 semester hours of history courses distributed according to departmental guidelines.
