Afterword

This curriculum was initially made possible through
a matching grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission and supplemental funding from
the Pennsylvania Department of Education and
several Pennsylvania corporations, foundations, and
individuals. Its revision in 1998 was funded by Team
PA/PA Entrepreneurial Education Initiative. The
Pennsylvania Partnership for Economic Education is
grateful to the funders and to the many people who made
this curriculum a reality.
Taking Charge was developed by a team of
educators under the leadership of Janet H. Bishop, former Field
Consultant, with the assistance of Deborah Mackey. Special gratitude is extended to Dr.James
Wetzler, Pennsylvania Department of Education, and
the superintendents at the six pilot demonstration
school districts who agreed to participate in the
demonstration phase when it was "only a vision."
