EPE Brochure  (click here to view the brochure)
EPEs are Millersville University students who are committed to seeing an end to sexual violence. In addition, we support advocacy and awareness of women's issues through our work with the Women's Center. EPEs participate in intensive training in order to be qualified to educate the campus community on a wide variety of issues including sexual assault, rape, harassment, and violence in relationships. We believe that through peer education, innovative educational programming, and awareness campaigns we can reduce sexual violence among college students. Our goal is educate and empower students by providing a safe and supportive educational environment while informing students of gender and violence issues.

Peer Health Educators (click here to meet the PHE's)
PHEs are a diverse group of Millersville University students dedicated to providing up-to-date health information in a non-judgmental fashion to Millersville students and the community. The training we receive prepares us to facilitate dynamic outreach programs, coordinate informative awareness events and encourage activities that help create a healthy culture on campus. Some of the topics we cover are alcohol, sexual responsibility, stress, diversity, and tobacco. We are committed to building a healthier environment at MU by sharing information, teaching skills, and encouraging our peers to practice healthy behaviors.

The Empower Peer Educator Programs

Red Zone Awareness
The Red Zone is the period of time in which freshman and transfer students are at the highest risk of being sexually assaulted, it lasts from move-in day until fall break.  Our program touches on the various aspects of why this is such a dangerous time and what students can do to reduce their risk. This is one of our most popular programs and is especially good for new students.

Calling Men to Action
This Men-Only program embraces the help and courage of MU men. We know that gender violence isn’t just a “women’s issue,” it’s a problem for everyone. We see men as valuable allies in the fight against gender violence, and we use this interactive program to motivate involvement and to brainstorm ways to help.

The Date
Date rape is an all too common occurrence, especially on college campuses.  This interactive program helps students learn more about what date rape is, how to help a friend who was a victim of date rape and ways to protect yourself.

Relationships 101
Relationships 101 helps students discover the four facets of healthy relationships: Trust, Boundaries, Respect, and Communication.  We also talk about warning signs of abusive relationships, and how to avoid or escape them. After this program, students will be better prepared for the challenges of dating, roommates, family, and friends!

Hey Baby
This program gives students the knowledge they need to be better able to recognize sexual harassment and how to deal with it on campus and after graduation.

Lovin’ The Skin You’re In
This program has participants critically look at the way media portrays body image and the affects that it has on them.
