My Curriculum Vitae

Dr. Yevgeny (Eugene) Botanov received his PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Kansas and is a licensed clinical psychologist.  He completed his pre-doctoral internship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and also earned a MA in Developmental Psychology from Columbia University Teachers College and a BA from Stony Brook University.  Prior to joining Millersville University, Dr. Botanov was a Research Associate at the University of Washington where he completed postdoctoral training in dialectical behavior therapy.

Dr. Botanov’s scholarly interests examine the neurological mechanisms underlying emotion regulation in healthy and clinical populations. His research examines the crossroads of clinical and affective neuroscience by elucidating neurobiological and behavioral mechanism of mental illness as a consequence of environmental mutations. Specifically, he examines how unhealthy lifestyles cause affective illness and how to effectively treat individuals that are depressed and at high-risk for suicide. Accordingly, Dr. Botanov’s teaching interests include psychopathology and evidence-based interventions and he maintains an academic interest in professional/training issues in clinical psychology.
