Suicide Prevention: 2 Part Workshop

Presented by Dr. Marc Felizzi, Dr. Jason Baker, and Dr. Nadine Garner     Co-Sponsored by the Dept. of Psychology

9am-12pm  Dr. Marc Felizzi, Assistant Professor of Social Work, will discuss suicidal behaviors, gestures, and actions in this training. In generations past, clinicians were instructed not to talk openly about suicidal behavior with clients for fear that it might influence the client toward suicidal ideation/gesture. Learn about new strengths-based interventions for addressing suicidal behaviors.

1pm-4pm Drs. Nadine Garner and Jason Baker, Associate Professors of Psychology and counselor educators in the School Counseling program, will share how we can change our brain to be our best ally...and be more in charge of our mental health. Learn how neuroscience, brain-based counseling theories, subjective well-being, and the spiritual components of personal growth and development can shed light on the powerful capacity to enhance our own mental health and advocate for the mental health of others.
