Jessica Butts, Carly Files, Rebecca Grube, Jack Warner Department of Mathematics Millersville University

Abstract: Jessica Butts, Carly Files, Rebecca Grube, and Jack Warner are seniors at Millersville University majoring in Mathematics. In the summer 2016, they were fully funded to attend a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program at different sites. In this talk, they will share with you their first-hand experience and strategies on the applications for REU programs. NSF funds a large number of research opportunities for undergraduate students through its REU Sites program. This panel discussion is a great opportunity for you to know more about the REU programs and the application procedure:

  • How can you benefit from REU programs?
  • What do you need to include in your application package?
  • What do you need to emphasize to become a more competitive applicant?
  • When to start the application?
  • Where to find useful information and websites?
  • And more...
