History

History of the Program

Dr. Ralph G. Anttonen began the Exploratory Program in 1986.

Currently, the Exploratory Program (undecided or undeclared) is one of the largest majors for incoming first-time students.  Recognizing that national data notes that 65-80% of college students change majors at least once, starting out in the Exploratory Program is a smart decision while you explore over 100 programs for students at Millersville University.

The Exploratory Program includes 4 faculty members with over 100 years of higher education.  Our faculty provide a personal touch through multiple advisement appointments during the first semester and first year that support successful transition into the university and into a respective major.  We learn about you, your passions, and your interests.

Our joint relationship with the Department of Academic Advisement and Student Development enables us to be astute academic advisors as well as knowledgeable of all the programs we offer.  As such, the Exploratory Program has become one of the most successful programs at Millersville University.  From its inception in 1986 to present, the Exploratory Program has been helping students to choose a major and graduate from Millersville University.
