Post Baccalaureate Certification

You should use this application process if you:

  • have completed a baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • are seeking a post-baccalaureate certificate, only
    • Instructional I (initial or additional teaching certification)
    • Educational Specialist - School Nurse
    • Program Specialist - ESL
    • Reading Specialist
    • Respiratory Care Therapy
    • Nursing Education

Deadlines

Applications for admission to post-baccalaureate certification programs in departments other than special education are considered on a rolling basis (there is no official deadline). However, applying by February 1 for summer and fall semesters and October 1 for winter and spring semesters assures a better selection of courses.

The deadlines for filing an application to the special education post-baccalaureate certification program are February 1 for summer and fall semesters and October 1 for winter and spring semesters. Admission decisions for special education are made only at these times.

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Complete the online application.  The online application includes a document upload feature for the submission of your required goal statement, an optional electronic letter of recommendation request system, and secure application fee payment processing.
  2. Upload the academic and professional goals statement required for admission. Your statement should include experiences which have influenced your decision to graduate studies and a self-assessment of your potential for advanced study and service in your chosen field (approximately 300-500 words).  Please refer to document listed below for essay instructions:

  3. Submit one (1) official transcript of baccalaureate and graduate work completed at ALL colleges or universities you have attended, including undergraduate and graduate transfer institutions. Transcripts must bear the official institutional seal and be contained in a sealed institutional envelope. Millersville University graduates need not request a transcript.

  4. Submit three (3) letters of recommendation in sealed envelopes or use the electronic recommendation request system included with the online application. Recommendations from professional supervisors or faculty members familiar with your work and academic background are highly preferred.

January 15  for admission beginning in summer/fall
June 1 for admission beginning in fall (on space available basis)
October 1 for admission beginning in winter/spring

The following program has an application deadline date of :
February 1 (or until full) for admission beginning summer

          Social Work
         (one deadline only)

All other graduate and certification programs accept applications on a rolling basis (i.e. no official deadline).  However, applicant should use the deadlines stated above as a guideline.
