Millersville University Alumni Association Committees

Whether your contribution is big or small, your time or your financial support, the Alumni Association wants you to become active and engaged in your Alumni Association. If you are interested in serving on one of these committees please contact the chair(s) of the committee you are interested in being a member.

These committees typically meet four times a year:

Financial Planning:
If you are a "number cruncher," have we got a committee for you! Use your expertise to help us manage the Alumni Association's funds on this very important committee. This group also develops the annual Alumni Association budget which is approved by the board and looks for event sponsors. They also preview all benefits and services offered to alumni and make recommendations on investments and the Association's assets. Chair: Dick Moriarty '72

Nominations & Awards:
Did you know that the Alumni Association gives thousands of dollars in grants and awards annually to current Millersville University students? By joining this committee, you can help review award nominations, develop award criteria and assist in the development of the board member nomination slate. Awards given out annually include Distinguished Alumni, Young Alumni Achievement, Honorary Alumni and Outstanding Volunteer Service. Co-Chairs: Bill Dewan '93 and Jen Strobel '95

Information Technology:
Are you on Facebook? Twitter? LinkedIn? Are you a member of the Millersville University Alumni Online Community? Do you have a valid email address? If you answered yes to any of the above questions, we need you on this committee. We need to be where our alumni are and most of them are online! This committee will seek out ways to utilize social media and the Internet to keep in touch with Millersville University alumni and increase alumni engagement. Chair: John Held '02

Alumni Engagement:
How can the Alumni Association engage our alumni with their alma mater? This committee has multiple objectives including counseling with the University Advancement efforts, specifically the Office of Development with reunion giving, campaigns, the annual fund, planned giving, etc. This committee also works with prospective students, Alumni Regional Coordinators (including volunteer recruitment) and new on the horizon: engagement programs/events that include both students and alumni. The committee works with such offices as Admissions, Center for Student Involvement and Leadership, Career Services, Civic Engagement and Internships, as well as the Student Alumni Association. Co-Chairs: Katie Breit '02 and Marie Cartwright '04

Alumni Events (Lancaster County):
Have you ever hosted a party for 1000? What about 25?  We've got it all happening with this committee, which reviews, approves and hosts activities for the more than 16,000 (our largest alumni base) alumni living in Lancaster County. Members assist with the implementation of programs and recommend ideas for increasing attendance at alumni events. They also assist with the development of activities for alumni affinity groups and continuous improvement ideas of event planning. The committee also works locally on events and projects with the Student Alumni Association. Co-Chairs: Kathy Focht '70 and Karen Fincham '90
