Research Interests

Flipping the Art Classroom:

Investigating the effectiveness of the flipped classroom in higher education. The flipped classroom involves the instructor creating videos that provide the student with basic information. I have launched mine on You Tube the students can view and review the information until they master understanding whereby the student takes responsibility for the learning. In the classroom the instructor takes the basic information and has the student apply it to more complex problem solving. For example a video lecture on Ancient Art provides the student with cultural, political, social and environment issues, then in the classroom the instructor has the student compare and contrast contemporary culture with ancient cultures. My plan is to my Intro to Art Education to create their own videos so they could implement it in their classrooms someday.
