Jeri Robinson-Lawrence was born in Buffalo, New York in 1961. She received her BFA degree from the State University of New York College at Purchase, New York in 1986 graduating with Summa Cum Laude honors. Robinson-Lawrence obtained her MFA degree in Printmaking from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1988.
Robinson-Lawrence has exhibited her artwork extensively and received numerous grants for her work. Her artist books are included in many permanent collections including: The Tate Gallery in London, England; the Victoria and Albert Museum, National Library in London, England; the Museum of Modern Art in New York; the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York as well as many university libraries. Her work has also been included in invitational and juried group exhibitions nationwide.
Currently, she focuses her art making efforts on all things fiber related whether it be spinning wool, weaving, knitting, felting or dyeing. Check out her store at flyingfibers.com. She actively promotes rare breed sheep such as the Wensleydale Longwool and their wool qualities along with sustainable fibers such as bamboo, aloo, banana palm silk, and recycled sari silk. Each January, you can find her at the Pennsylvania Farm Show where she competes on the Treadlers Thru Time sheep to shawl team. At present, Jeri Robinson-Lawrence is a Professor at Millersville University in Millersville, Pennsylvania where she teaches Computer Art and is Chair of the Art Department.
