Description: The Civic and Community Engagement and Research Project (CCERP) presents its annual Distinguished Civic Leadership Awards on April 11. This event, which will feature Andrew Slack, co-founder and executive director of the Harry Potter Alliance (HPA), will be held at 7 p.m. in Lehr Room, Bolger Conference Center, Gordinier Hall.
The purpose of these awards is to publicly recognize notable civic/community contributions on the part of individuals and entities that have had a positive impact locally, regionally, nationally or internationally. Nominees may fall into one of the following eligible categories: Be a local, regional or national or international figure, an MU faculty or staff member, an MU student or alumni, a non-MU student (including pre-college), a nonprofit organization a corporation or other business entity or institution including schools but not governmental agencies.

Speaker Biography: The Harry Potter Alliance (HPA) is a nonprofit organization that inspires Harry Potter fans to act as heroes in our world through civic engagement and human rights advocacy. Under Slack's leadership, the HPA has sent five cargo planes to Haiti, built libraries across the world, advocated for human rights, media reform, and equality on LGBTQ, education and immigration.
