About the Film: In the late '60s, two celebrated producers recorded an album with Rodriguez, a musician discovered in a Detroit bar. The artist's soulful melodies and prophetic lyrics were enough to assure the producers of his future success, but the album was a bomb and the singer disappeared into obscurity. Somehow a bootleg recording found its way into apartheid South Africa and over the next two decades, it beame a phenomenon. Rumors abounded about the artist and a gruesome on-stage suicide. More than 20 years later, two South African fans set out to find out what really happened to their hero. Their investigation led them to a story more extraordinary than any of the existing myths about the artist know as Rodriguez.
