Description: On March 1, the Department of Social Work at Millersville University presents a screening of the film Miss Representation. This event will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Ware Center.

About the Film: In a society where media is the most persuasive force shaping cultural norms, the collective message that our young women and men overwhelmingly receive is that a woman's value and power lie in her youth, beauty and sexuality - and not in her capacity as a leader. Miss Representation includes stories from teenage girls and provocative interviews with politicians, journalists, entertainers, activists and academnics like Condoleeza Rice, Lisa Ling, Nancy Pelosi, Katie Couric, Rachel Maddow, Rosario Dawson, Jackson Katz, Jean Kilbourne and Gloria Steinem.

The screeing of this 90-minute film will be followed by a panel discussion.

Ticket Information: This event is free and open to the public; however, tickets are required. Tickets may be reserved online, at MUTicketsOnline.com, at the Student Memorial Center Ticket Office (Room 103, 21 S. George St., Millersville), by calling the Ticket Office at 717-872-3811 or at The Ware Center Box Office (42 N. Prince St., Lancaster). Ticket Offices are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
