Arts Symposium Series: "Behind the Art: Reflections on Creativity and Collaboration"

Description: On April 12, the 2012-2013 Arts Symposium Series will feature "Behind the Art: Reflections on Creativity and Collaboration," a mini-conference showcasing the creative works, research and collaborative projects of faculty, students and artists in residence from 10 a.m. to noon in Biemesderfer Concert Hall at the Winter Visual and Performing Arts Center.
The projects will reflect on how collaboration fosters creativity, innovation and engagement, and how the arts can cultivate social change. Artist in Residence Lisa Jo Epstein, of Gas and Electric Arts, will reflect on her interactions with the faculty and students during the academic year. Her work regularly uses interactive, experiential theatre with a variety of populations around issues of identity and empowerment, community and social justice.
The purpose of the of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences' Arts Symposium Series is to expand and deepen the discussion of the role and potential of the arts in our community. Each symposium includes a key presenter to introduce the theme, followed by a question and answer session and a panel discussion. Panelists will be representatives from the regional arts community, as well as students, alumni and faculty.
Ticket Information: This event is free and open to the public; however, tickets are required. Tickets may be reserved online, at MUTicketsOnline.com, at the Student Memorial Center Ticket Office (Room 103), by calling the Ticket Office at 717-872-3811 or at the Ware Center Box Office (42 N. Prince St., Lancaster). Ticket Offices are open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
