Description: Millersville University's Center for Civic & Community Engagement & Research Project presents the 2012 International Policy Conference: Stewards of Sustainability, September 27-28. Gary Hirshberg, chairman of Stonyfield Farm, will deliver the keynote address on Thursday, September 27 at 7 p.m.
The conference includes two tracks: Economic Development and Social Equity and Environmental Preservation.

Thursday, September 27:
11 a.m. - noon - Registration
noon - 6 p.m. - Sustainable Business Expo (Reighard Multipurpose Room, Student Memorial Center)
noon - 12:30 p.m. - Welcome by President Francine McNairy and luncheon
12:30 - 1:30 p.m. - Opening Speaker: Frances Moore Lappe, author and activist
2:30 - 3:45 p.m - Session 1: Track 1 - Fair Trade Global Solutions; Track 2 - National Smart Growth and Urban Planning
4 - 5:15 p.m. - Session 2: Track 1 - Sustainable Entrepreneurship Panel; Track 2 - Local Urban Planning and Green Initiatives
7 p.m. - Keynote speaker: Gary Hirshberg, chairman of Stonyfield Farm
Friday, September 28:
9 - 10:15 a.m. - Session 3: Track 1 - Population Growth/Cultural Sustainability; Track 2 - Reduce Reuse Recycle Strategies
10:30 - 11:45 a.m. - Session 4: Track 1 - What is Organic/Farming/Water?; Track 2 - Alternative Energy Solutions
12:30 - 1:30 p.m. - Closing Speaker: Nadine Garner, director of the Sustainability Education and Research Project, with thoughts by Lilly Belanger, No Impact Project - Launching of Sustainability Education and Research Project (SERP)
The opening, keynote and closing speeches will be held in Lehr Room, Bolger Conference Center, Gordinier Hall. The Sustainable Business Expo will be held in Reighard Multipurpose Room, Student Memorial Center. Other conference sessions will be held in smaller rooms within both locations. Keynote Speaker Biography: Gary Hirshberg is Stonyfield's co-founder and chairman, author of Stirring It Up: How to Make Money and Save the World, and co-author of Label it now: What You Need to Know About Genetically Engineered Foods. Hirshberg is a frequent speaker on topics including sustainability, climate change, the profitability of green business and organic agriculture. He also advocates for change in national food and agriculture policies including those regarding the labeling of genetically engineered foods.
