The Department of History offers courses in U.S. and world history and major degrees in both the liberal arts and secondary education. In addition, it offers applied history, which enables students to learn skills in historical editing, museum work and other related areas. All liberal arts majors have an option of taking an academic minor in another discipline or an 18-hour "area of concentration" structured to the studentís professional or career goals. A history minor is also available to the non-history majors. The departmentís program in secondary education provides a teaching certification for social studies/history emphass. Academic counseling is available for students choosing careers in history.
