Description:

The program is primarily used by students in grades 4 through 12, post-secondary students, and adults who want to learn more about investing and managing their financial future. An exciting, real-world, true-to-life simulation, The Stock Market Game enables participants to discover the risks and rewards involved in decision-making, the sources and uses of capital, and other related economic concepts. The Stock Market Game workshop is designed to train Stock Market Game advisors. SMG advisors take many forms. Many are teachers or teacher’s aides who plan to integrate the game into their curriculum in economics, social studies, business, personal finance, or math. Other SMG advisors may be parents who serve as leaders for an extracurricular club or organization like the boy or girl scouts. No matter what level you plan to participate in, the SMG workshop is designed to help you become an advisor regardless of your experience or knowledge with financial markets. Advisors who attend the workshop will receive training to use the online version of the Stock Market Game™. In addition, advisors will get lots of teaching materials and ideas, Act 48 credit, and, of course, a great MU lunch.
-
Please keep in mind that it is required that you attend a teacher training workshop to participate with your students in the Stock Market Game but that you don’t have to compete right away in the competition. You may attend the teacher training and compete with your students in the spring game or the game next fall. There is also a year long game that is becoming increasingly popular.
