I am currently a wildlife rehabilitation intern at Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research in Newark, DE. Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research works to return injured, diseased, orphaned, and oiled native birds back to the wild. Through this internship I have been able to learn about many aspects of avian rehabilitation such as proper husbandry and dietary needs for different species, proper care for nestling songbirds, handling and restraining techniques for raptors, medical care for injured and diseased birds, diagnostic necropsy techniques, and the care and decontamination of oiled birds. I am also currently working on a study examining past clinic data to determine the general survival rate and the types of species most commonly affected from cat attacks. My entire experience at Tri-State Bird Rescue and Research has been extremely rewarding and I have learned so much. I one day hope to have a career in wildlife ecology and conservation and know that my experiences at Tri-State will be beneficial to obtaining that goal.
