Writing Course Resources

The English Department's Writing Studies Committee has gathered materials to assist you with your W courses.

These materials are presented as general advice which you would need to adapt to your specific discipline and course.

The Academic Outcomes and Assessment Committee Rubrics

Scaffolding across the disciplines in writing courses can be helped by using similar rubrics.  The English Department hopes you will consider using the Academic Outcomes and Assessment Committee (AOAC) rubric as the base for your writing assignments.

All the General Education Rubrics can be found on Millersville General Education webpages.  The writing rubric (developed by an ad hoc committee that included William Archibald, Caleb Corkery, Kerrie Farkas, Judith Halden-Sullivan, Kimberly McCollum-Clark and Tracey Weis) may be downloaded from that page.

English Department Graduate Assistants

When available (especially during their "on call" hours), the English Department graduate assistants can help individual students with their writing. They can be particularly useful for students who need more focused attention on their writing than is available in the Writing Center.  If you are interested in such a tutor, contact Graduate Coordinator Yufeng Zhang.
