Minority Authors Requirement

Minority Authors Requirement

The minority component focuses attention on "works by authors of color" (see NCTE Program Standards 3.5.1.4). To attain a "minority author" designation, courses should have a minimum of 1/3 of course content (as measured by time—that is, 5 weeks of a fall or spring semester) dedicated to the study of authors of color.

Currently, the courses approved for this designation include:

  • English 235 Early American Literature (as taught by Dr. Duckhee Shin)
  • English 331: African-American Prose (as taught by Dr. Beverly Skinner)
  • English 333 Survey of Afro-American Literature (as taught by Dr. Beverly Skinner)
