Dr Jordan received his Ph.D. from University of Wisconsin. His particular research interest was sedimentation but he was also the resident expert in historical geology. Dr Jordan retired in 2000 but still makes an occasional appearance as a guest lecturer in earth sciences. Dr Jordan served as the first chair of the Department of Earth Sciences.
