Role of and Resources for Faculty Members

Faculty members play a critical role in helping our students understand not only what a liberal arts education is but also why it is valued by the institution, employers, and society.  The liberal arts education prepares students not just for their first job -  but for their last!

Advising offers one avenue to begin conversations with students about how their liberal arts education is preparing them for both the near and distant future.  The classroom provides another more consistent opportunity for faculty to engage in these critical discussion with students.

All general education courses must meet specific criteria that have been approved by the faculty.  The faculty’s goal should be to not only meet these criteria via course assignments, discussions, and experiences; but to also intentionally and deliberately discuss why these criteria are important.
