Evaluations

Returned study abroad participants are strongly encouraged to complete an evaluation to help our office understand what we or the program can improve or change to make a better study abroad experience for future students. Deadlines for completing the evaluation can be found on the homepage.

Make sure your grades/classes transfer correctly

Oftentimes foreign institutions may send your grades/transcripts to our office, which we then forward to the Registrar. Please note that it may take quite a few weeks for classes taken abroad to appear on your DARS.

Participate in Open Houses/Orientations

You help out our office and potential study abroad participants enormously when you volunteer your time to be an ambassador for your study abroad program. As a returnee, you can offer real-world suggestions as to where to go, what to pack, and other advice and tidbits that will help future travelers.

When you return, please provide our office with updated phone, e-mail, and address information so we can get in contact with you if necessary.

Marketing Your Study Abroad Experience

Other Opportunities

English Opens Doors Program: Learn Spanish while Teaching English in Chile!

A perfect opportunity for students or recent graduates interested in gaining experience as an English-language teaching assistant to students in middle school and high school. Volunteer for 10 weeks to 8 months at a time in some of the most scenic and beautiful areas in Chile, including Arica and Patagonia.

English Opens Doors was initiated in 2004 with the goal of increasing Chilean students’ ability to speak English. Participants can volunteer full-time for 10 weeks to 8 months in middle schools and high schools throughout Chile. Full-time volunteers are paid a monthly living stipend in addition to receiving free accommodations and meals with a Chilean host family.

Being an English-language teaching assistant can also be done on a part-time basis in conjunction with studying abroad at our partner university, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso. Students may then have the opportunity to remain in Chile after completing their study abroad to participate in the full-time volunteer program for academic credit.
