Emergency Kit
The Department of Homeland Security recommends everyone prepare for an emergency by putting together a "grab-and-go" emergency kit.
Include in your kit, at a minimum:
- Flashlight and spare batteries
- Cell phone
- Extra batteries/charger for your cell phone
- Water proof matches or lighter
- First aid supplies and a supply of any personal medications
- Ground cloth and/or rain coat
- String/wire
- Scissors or knife
- Whistle
- Paper and pen
- Glow sticks or flares
- Disposable dust mask
- A change of clothing
- Plastic bottle with screw on cap
- Can opener
- Pliers, wrench, screwdriver
- Hand sanitizer/garbage bags/twist ties
- Water sterilization pills
- Several days worth of high calorie food such as snack bars
