2012–2013 School of H&SS Artist in Residence
2012–2013 Humanities and Social Sciences Artist in Residence
To celebrate the innaugural year of the Winter Visual & Performing Arts Center, the School of Humanities and Social Sciences has created a series of programming that reflects our vision of the intersection of creativity, innovation, and engagement with the arts.
Through a collaboration with the Office of the Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences the departments of Art & Design, Communication & Theatre, and Music an artist residency project in collaboration with Gas and Electric Arts (GEA), a professional theatre arts company based in Philadelphia, has been created.
University Theatre will produce the play “Behind the Eye” (BTE) by Carson Kreitzer, which is based on the unconventional life of Lee Miller. Over the course of the spring semester, the Gas and Electric Arts production team will work directly with Millersville faculty and students as artists-in-residence to help create this production.
Projects related to the residency will be presented in the new Winter Visual & Performing Arts Center, which will include film, music, live performances and multi-media exhibits depicting highlights of the career of Ms. Lee Miller, a fashion model turned correspondence photographer who was the first to document the Nazi Holocaust, a remarkable feat for a woman during her time period.
