Through Their Eyes
During the evaluation of the Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) of Lancaster County Program, Dr. Heather Girvin and Dr. Karen Rice identified a pervasive need: engaging adolescent youth in foster care.
As a result, in collaboration with the Executive Director of the CASA of Lancaster County program, an engagement intervention was developed called Through Their Eyes. Through Their Eyes uses photography as a means to engage adolescent youth who have experienced multiple forms of trauma and are now in foster care.
The program provides CASA volunteers with an innovative tool (photography) to engage youth and collaboratively work together. This program has sparked interest from other CASA programs that a training manual is being developed to allow other programs to implement Through Their Eyes with the youth they service.
