Career Services * Internships * Volunteer Central
Overview
The Office of Experiential Learning and Career Management (ELCM) is a one-stop shop for connecting Millersville University students and faculty with businesses, government and human service agencies. ELCM houses Career Services, the Internship Office and Volunteer Central, all of which work to prepare students to be successful, professional and civically engaged alumni.
Career Services
A four year career management plan allows students to “seize the opportunity” of all that a MU education provides. As students prepare to join the work force or attend graduate school, Career Services provides many options to learn about themselves, career choices and skills that will last a lifetime. Individual career counseling, job fairs and workshops are a few of the services offered. Click here to learn more.
Internships
Each year, more than 230 companies and organizations benefit from the talent, energy and knowledge of more than 300 Millersville University students. Now, more than ever, internships are vitally important to students who are looking ahead to success either in entering the workforce or going to graduate school. Hiring college graduates with some professional experience is also important to employers as 85% of new college graduates hired in 2011 had some kind of internship or practical experience according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers. Millersville has a long history of a strong internship and co-op program, helping students gain experience related to their academic studies here and abroad. Click here for more information.
Volunteer Central
Volunteer Central provides a link for students, organizations and faculty interested in community service. Agencies contact us with their needs which we relay to the campus community. Faculty who want to make connections for service-learning also utilize our connections. In addition to annual service events such as “Into the Streets” and “Day of Caring” the office also supports collaborative efforts such as Angel Tree and a food drive during National Homelessness and Hunger Awareness Week.
