The selection of the external evaluator must follow the following guidelines by type of unit.

  • Academic unit program reviews must use external evaluators from outside of the State System.  In consultation with the Department Chairs or Directors, the Dean/Vice President will nominate 3 to 5 external evaluators for approval by the Provost.  (Attachment 10)
  • The Dean’s/Vice President’s office will contact and contract the evaluator.
  • Non-school faculty unit (for example, the library, athletics or counseling centers) program reviews must secure at least one evaluator from outside the State System.  In consultation with the Department Chairs or Directors, the Dean/Vice President will nominate 3 to 5 external evaluators for approval by the Provost.  (Attachment 10) The Dean’s/Vice President’s office will contact and contract the evaluator.
  • Academic-support and student-support unit program reviews must secure at least one evaluator from outside the State System.  In consultation with the Department Chairs or Directors, the Dean/Vice President will nominate 3 to 5 external evaluators for approval by the Provost.  (Attachment 10) The Dean’s/Vice President’s office will contact and contract the evaluator.
  • Administrative units may use an external evaluator from within the State System; all others must secure at least one evaluator from outside the State System.
