Reporting to Work

SWATs are expected to report for their shifts when scheduled. Habitual lateness will result in disciplinary action.

Guidelines for Clocking in Hours

Hours worked must be recorded on the Bi-Weekly Paysheet, which can be found posted in your work area. If you have any questions about anything regarding these paysheets, they should be directed to your staff supervisor or Josh. The two week pay period runs from Saturday through Friday. You may expect your first paycheck two weeks after you turn in your first paysheet. You may pick your paycheck up at the reception desk on the second floor at Boyer. Please remember to bring your ID when you pick up your check.

It is absolutely essential that you follow these guidelines when turning in hours for a given pay period:

  • The MAXIMUM number of hours you may work in a given pay period is 60 including all of your campus jobs together. Also, you may NOT charge two different departments for the same time.
  • Please keep in mind that any inquiries regarding payroll should be made first to Josh or Kathy

Every SWAT must have a MU Marauder email address (or CS email address)

if you are a Computer Science major) by the end of the first week of the semester. Most of the corresponding with SWATs will be done through email. SWATs can inform Josh of problems, down equipment, sickness, etc. via email.

Be sure to follow the procedures established by the SWAT Team Program

You do NOT have the right to ignore, change, or alter any procedures set by the SWAT Team Program! If you have a concern about a procedure or feel something needs to be changed, please bring it up to Diane Duell, Al Unrath, Stephen Gadsby, Mike Dulay, or Josh Hartranft.

Other things to keep in mind

  • Keep your area neat, clean and organized.
  • Notify Josh about any down equipment and needed supplies.

Disciplinary Action Procedures

Disciplinary action
  • Violating any SWAT policies,
  • Not following a regulation procedure stated in this handbook,
  • or exhibiting unsatisfactory work habits.
    • First Offense - Verbal Warning. This warning may be issued by any member of the Information Technology Staff. A verbal warning is assumed to be a mutual understanding between both the issuing party and the cited employee; no formal written action will be taken against the employee.
    • Second Offense - Written Warning. This warning may be issued by any member of the Information Technology Staff. A report will be written up citing the offense and the people involved and will be filed with the SWAT office in Boyer Technology Center. The warning is signed by all parties involved and the cited employee has the right to discuss the warning with the issuing party and/or Veronica Longenecker, Director of ACTS.
    • Third Offense - Termination of Employment. Termination of an employee will occur with the approval of Josh Hartranft, Manager of Student Technology or will occur based on the sole decision of Veronica Longenecker. Upon a third offense, an employee will be terminated immediately. A Disciplinary Action Report form will be filed with the SWAT office in Boyer Technology Center.

If an incident involving a SWAT is considered a severe violation in lab policy, handbook regulations, or work behavior, Veronica Longenecker may cite the SWAT with a written warning or terminate the SWAT immediately regardless of the number of previous offenses. This is left solely to the discretion of Veronica Longenecker based on the situation at hand.
