Instructional Designers...
A New Media Technician’s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Assisting in the use of Blackboard
- Design/Editing of text, graphics, sound, video, etc. for courses.
- Instructional situations such as one to one training, workshop instruction, and classroom presentation.
- Use of graphic and web editors.
- Basic troubleshooting and set-up of computer hardware and software used in instruction.
- Maintaining the security of computer hardware and software throughout the university.
- Keeping confidentiality of passwords and information seen and heard.
Multimedia Technicians, Web Technicians, and Web Designers...
A Web & Multimedia Designer’s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:- Meet with the Web & Multimedia Programmer to discuss assignments
- Meet with the official maintainers of departmental web pages and guide them in organizing the information for their web pages
- Code the information using HTML and CSS
- Upload the information to the web server after approved by Web & Multimedia Programmer.
- Train the departmental maintainers in how to keep their pages updated.
- Assist and guide the Web Maintainers as needed
- Design/edit text, graphics, sound, video, etc. in support of the New Media Design Team
- Create documentation & training materials on various web- & multimedia-related topics Assist in the burning of CD-ROMs, digitization of documents/audio/video, and other multimedia support services
- Create and test programs & scripts in various web-related languages (e.g. Perl, Java, JavaScript, PHP)
- Participate in faculty/staff programs and presentations as needed
- Complete a daily time report Maintaining the security of computer hardware and software throughout the university.
- Keeping confidentiality of passwords and information seen and heard.
Student Support Technician 1…
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
- Answering in-coming calls regarding technical support issues.
- Maintaining Footprints work order system.
- Forwarding calls to proper staff when necessary.
- Providing maintenance to printers in labs.
- Answering support questions and researching problems.
- Other duties may be assigned by University Information Technology Staff.
- Maintaining the security of computer hardware and software throughout the university.
- Keeping confidentiality of passwords and information seen and heard.
Help Desk Specialty:
- Monitoring systems and announcing system outages.
- Providing maintenance to printers in labs.
- Classroom support calls.
- Providing supplies to labs.
Statistical Support Services:
- Writing and running SAS programs, installing new versions of SAS, and applying new SAS SETINITs.
- Helping administer, update, and maintain research databases.
- Help design and implement custom surveys using NCS Design Expert an ScanTools II software.
Student Support Technician 2…
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Troubleshooting hardware and software problems.

- The setup and configuration of new computer systems, installation of application software, and performing hardware and software maintenance on faculty, staff, computer lab and multimedia classroom computers.
- Providing maintenance to printers in labs.
- Specialty Connection of students’ personal computers to the university’s network.
- Assisting students’ in cleaning and protecting their computers from viruses and spy-ware.
- Using Cisco Clean Access to solve issues.
- Communicating with students on a daily basis (customer service).
- Assemble and test patch cables.
- Activate jacks and troubleshoot connectivity problems.
- Maintain the DONUT system (record of active jacks/ ports).
- Install and configure server OS including Microsoft and Linux/Unix
- Create and maintain group policy objects.

Multimedia Team
Multimedia Technicians will receive their assignments from Stephen Gadsby or Diane Duell.
As Multimedia Technicians develop and complete assigned projects, they should review them with Stephen Gadsby before sharing them with the requesting faculty or staff. Questions or problems should be discussed with Stephen Gadsby.
Multimedia Technicians are expected to be competent in the use of Microsoft Office, Flash, Final Cut Pro, DPS Velocity, and other animation, audio, and video techniques and tools.
Report any problems with hardware or software in the Multimedia Room to Stephen Gadsby.
Instruct. Design Team
Instructional Designers will receive their assignments from All Unrath or Diane Duell.
As Instructional Designers develop and complete assigned projects, they should review them with Al Unrath before publishing them or sending them to faculty. Questions or problems should be discussed with Al Unrath.
Instructional Designers are expected to be competent in the use of WebCT, Blackboard, Paint Shop Pro or PhotoShop, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows, Netscape Composer and other wysiwyg HTML editors, and other web design techniques and tools.
Report any problems with hardware, software, or development of courses/projects to Al Unrath.
Web Team
Web Technicians and Web Designers will receive their assignments from Mike Dulay or Diane Duell.
As Web Technicians and Web Designers develop and complete assigned projects, they should review them with Mike Dulay before sharing them with the requesting faculty or staff. Questions or problems should be discussed with Mike Dulay.
Web Technicians are expected to be competent in the use of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows, Netscape Composer, Macromedia Dreamweaver, and other wysiwyg HTML editors, and other web development techniques and tools. Web Designers are expected to be competent in the use of Microsoft Office, Microsoft Windows or Mac OS, Netscape Composer, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and other web design techniques and tools.
Report any problems with hardware or software in the Web Development Room to Mike Dulay. At the beginning of each semester, a handout will be distributed that details the procedures and policies for Web & Multimedia Services area.
