Retroactive Services

Services for students with disabilities, including academic accommodations and auxiliary aids are not retroactive. Services begin with the opening of a confidential file based on eligible documentation (see documentation guidelines). Students are required to identify themselves as students with disabilities.

Students identified as eligible for accommodations will not be permitted to seek retroactive use of accommodations at the time eligibility for services is established. Likewise, students who fail to use their accommodations are not permitted to request faculty to provide them retroactively. Faculty are not required by law to provide retroactive accommodations to any student at any time.
