Ecological Impact of Invasive Species on Nutrient Dynamics

Carly Files, Millersville University, Millersville, PA

Abstract: Species extinction is a natural phenomenon but is further driven by invasive species, climate change, habitat changes, pollution, and over exploitation.  To further understand the impact of invasive species, my research at the REU program at Rutgers University in Camden, New Jersey uses a meta-analysis to determine any significant relationship between the nutrient dynamics and species invasions.  Specifically, we looked to see if carbon, nitrogen, phosphorous dynamics vary across tropic levels and habitats.
