“FAREWELL TO LYTE AUDITORIUM”

On Friday, November 20th at 7:30PM, “Farewell to Lyte Auditorium,” a benefit concert with all proceeds going to Aaron’s Acres will be hosted by the “Lyte’s Out Crew, ” a student run non profit founded by the classical music business course at Millersville University. “Lyte’s Out Crew,” in cooperation with Risa Paskoff, is working to help raise funds and awareness of Aaron’s Acres, an organization focused on connecting with special needs children of all different abilities and their families through summer camps and weekend workshops.
Performances by various music groups from Millersville University, such as the Celestial Brass, Violinists Brittany Peterson and Seth Kerner, Lyte’s Out Jazz Combo, MU Trombone Ensemble, Flute Quartet, the MU Men’s Choir, along with Keenan Metcalfe on marimba.
Starting in Spring 2010, Lyte Auditorium will be doubled in size to become Millersville University’s new Visual and Performing Arts Center. “Farewell to Lyte Auditorium” involves over sixty students and faculty from the Millersville University music department. Tickets are available at the door with a $5.00 suggested donation, and tickets will be sold for a 50/50 raffle.
The “Lyte’s Out Crew” was organized this fall with the goal to create a student run non profit group while using project-based learning techniques learn such as concert planning, production, fundraising, and basic leadership and organization all within the framework of a non profit organization. Built in 1949, the Lyte Auditorium on the Millersville University campus has provided a site for major cultural activities and various performances on campus.
