Dr. Mark T. Yingling joins the faculty in the fall of 2011 as Conductor of the Wind Ensemble. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in conducting from the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University, a Master of Music degree in instrumental conducting from the Pennsylvania State University, and Bachelor of Music degrees in percussion and music education from Peabody/JHU. In addition to his appointment at Millersville, Dr. Yingling is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Music at Franklin and Marshall College where his responsibilities include teaching percussion and serving as director of the percussion ensemble. Additionally, he teaches instrumental music at the Schuylkill Valley School District in Leesport, Pennsylvania.
As a graduate assistant, Dr. Yingling conducted concert bands and wind ensembles and taught undergraduate conducting at both Penn State and Peabody. He is an active guest conductor and has appeared with the Peabody Wind Ensemble at the Maryland Music Educators Association Conference. Additionally, he has been a finalist for the prestigious Thelma Robinson Award, presented biennially by the Conductors Guild.
As a percussionist and timpanist, Dr. Yingling performs regularly with ensembles such as the Reading Symphony Orchestra, the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra, the Allegro Chamber Orchestra, the Wheatland Chorale, and the Lebanon Choral Society. His professional memberships have included the Conductors Guild, the College Band Directors National Association, the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, the Music Educators National Conference, the Percussive Arts Society, and Pi Kappa Lambda.
