Lyric Soprano Elizabeth Ann Murphy is an active performer and voice instructor. She is a native of York County, Pennsylvania and studied voice with Margaret Moul Carli. She later studied voice with Klara Meyers while earning both undergraduate and master's degrees in classical voice performance at Temple University in Philadelphia.

She has studied with international soprano Tamara Matthews and currently is a student of Dr. Frederick Urrey. Elizabeth is the winner of numerous awards and competitions, including scholarships from the Pottstown Symphony Orchestra and the Kennett Symphony Orchestra. Elizabeth has sung in master classes with artists such as Michele Crider, Joan Dornemann, Richard Miller, Thomas Grubb, and Marietta Simpson. She was employed for nine years as the soprano soloist and section leader at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Chestnut Hill, Pennsylvania.Elizabeth maintains an active performing career. Some career highlights include concert engagements as soprano soloist for Mozart's Missa Brevis in Graz, Austria, Handel's Messiah at Bethany Lutheran Church in Cherry Hills Village, CO and Handel's Foundling Anthem with the Rutgers University Choir. Her stage roles have included Serafina in Il campanello, Antonia in Les Contes D'Hoffmann, the title role in Norma, the Dew Fairy in Hansel and Gretel, Zweite Dame in Die Zauberflöte, and Ann Putnam in The Crucible.  Recent opera performances include Nerina, in Haydn's Le Pescatrici, (a U.S. Premiere), the role of Mrs. McLean in Susannah and Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte.

Since 2002, Elizabeth has been Professor of Voice at Arcadia University in Glenside, PA where she teaches Voice, Introduction to Music Listening, and Music History. She is in the final year of her DMA (Doctor of Musical Arts) degree from Rutgers University's Mason Gross School of the Arts in New Brunswick, NJ and has taught private and group voice as a Graduate Assistant for the Department of Music. Elizabeth plans to graduate with her Doctorate in May of 2012 and maintains private voice studios in Lakewood, Colorado and York, Pennsylvania. Elizabeth is pleased to be joining the voice faculty at Millersville University.
