Keith Wiley is director of Jazz Bands, Concert Band conductor, and trumpet instructor at Millersville University, where he has been a member of the music faculty since 1984. He also teaches courses in instrumental music and general education. Wiley received a bachelor of science in music education from Mansfield University, and earned the master of music and doctor of arts degrees from Ball State University. He has done additional doctoral study at the University of Northern Colorado. Dr. Wiley began his teaching career as an instrumental music instructor at East Juniata High School. Prior to his appointment at Millersville, he was director of bands at Dickinson State University in Dickinson, North Dakota. Dr. Wiley has performed with a variety of regional ensembles, including symphony, opera, chamber, and pit orchestras, as well as concert and jazz bands. In addition, he performs with a local jazz quintet, “’Docsology,” leads the Jazz Ministers Big Band, and is the musical director for the Hershey Area Playhouse. Active as a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician, Dr. Wiley has participated in music festivals in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Indiana, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, and Saskatchewan and Manitoba, Canada. Currently, Dr. Wiley is a member of the International Association for Jazz Educators, Pennsylvania Music Educators Association, and the International Trumpet Guild. He is a 1999 recipient of the PMEA Citation of Excellence Award.
