Millersville University Orchestra
Millersville University Orchestra

The aim for the Millersville University Orchestra is to create rehearsal and performance experiences at the highest level. The players obtain realistic, professional and educational training, as well as an opportunity to regularly perform for the audience. The training of the orchestra is further supplemented on an advanced level by means of close collaboration with the guest artists from outside of the University. The string players in the Orchestra are also offered an opportunity to perform as a part of the Chamber Ensemble and rehearse independently from the Orchestra.
Vera Volchansky has assumed a position as Orchestra Director at the Millersville University in Fall of 2009. Under her direction the Orchestra has performed at the local venues, including the University's Lyte Auditorium, the Steinman Concert Hall, and the Willow Valley Performing Arts Theater, among others. The Millersville University Orchestra has recently collaborated with pianists Awadagin Pratt, Maria Corley and Ioannis Potamousis, and violinist Igor Yuzefovich, and will be working with a Greek soprano Eleni Calenos, and clarinetists Christy Banks and Robert Spring.
All Orchestra players are asked to audition at the beginning of each semester. For more detailed information about the performance schedule or audition process please contact Dr. Vera Volchansky by email Vera.Volchansky@millersville.edu or by calling 717.872.3491.
