Students Representing Millersville University Marched in Rose Parade
Millions of people tuned in on New Year's Day to watch the parades and festivities surrounding many bowl games. The Tournament of Roses in California started this tradition; the Rose Parade began as a promotional effort in the winter of 1890, and the Rose Bowl was added to the Tournament of Roses festivities in 1902 to help fund the cost of the parade. This year’s event featured some of the best young musicians in the United States, including two Millersville University students.
Kayla Klase Wins the Louis Vyner Competition
Kayla Klase, a soprano majoring in music performance at Millersville University, won the Louis Vyner Competition on February 10, 2013. Klase, a student of professor Kristin Sims and current junior, sang “Oh! Quante volte, oh quante” from Capuleti e i Montecchi by Vincenzo Bellini and “Glitter and Be Gay” from Candide by Leonard Bernstein.
