Do I have to attend the Fall Orientation Program?

Asking this question is similar to asking the question should I go to class. Orientation is a prime time to learn about all the different activities and experiences that you will have as a Millersville University student. For that reason Orientation is Mandatory, and we cannot wait to see you! If you have specific questions please call us at 717-871-5553.

Do Graduate Students attend Orientation?

Graduate students will have a separate Orientation and should contact the Office of Graduate Studies at 717-872-3099 for more information. Here is the link to their website as well: http://www.millersville.edu/~graduate.

Do Family Members have to attend?

There will be programming provided for parents and family members of new students. These sessions will address different areas and aim to ease any concerns that parents and family members have about the transition from high school to college.

What do I do if I have decided to change majors?

During Orientation you can not change your major. Once you are given an academic advisor you should work with him or her to ensure a smooth transition from one major to another. During Orientation there will be times to meet with various departments on campus. Those meetings provide a good opportunity to see if a major is the right one for you.

When do I need to be at Millersville?

Check-in will occur on August 19th beginning at 9:00 am and will go until approximately 4:00 pm. For students living in the resident halls, check-in will coincide with your move in to your residence hall. All new students will be moving in this day so allow yourself ample time to set up your room. For students commuting to Millersville, you can check-in any time between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm in room 44 in the Student Memorial Center.

Will there be a tour of the Campus?

A tour will be provided to all students during the first few days of orientation. Parents and family members will be able to take a Virtual History Tour where they will be able to see the campus and its history from a cool air-conditioned room.

What if I have a question not related to orientation?

Any other questions should be directed to the Information Desk. Their number is 717-872-3024. They will help direct your question to the appropriate department.

What will the parking situation be on Move in Day?

Due to the large influx of student on that day, parking can become quite hectic. We ask that all non-essential moving cars remain clear of the Residence Hall area. There will be no tickets issued as long as you are legally parked and not blocking sidewalks or parked on the grass. We just ask that everyone tries to work together and be safe while moving into your new home.

Will there be programming for younger siblings?

Unfortunately we have no programming for younger siblings. We realize their importance in a family as well as the moving process, however please keep in mind that this will be a very busy day and will be tiring for them. We would encourage them to visit later in the semester during Family weekend, which is being held on November 10th.
