UPDATED: Important H1N1 Information
UPDATED: November 13, 2009
Dear MU Students, Faculty, Staff and Administration:
Health Services has now received a shipment of H1N1 vaccine. While we had hoped to receive enough to inoculate the entire campus -- faculty, staff and students -- our first shipment was only 2,000 doses. We are optimistic that more vaccine will be coming in the near future. Information about vaccine distribution and other H1N1 issues will be posted to this website, so please check here frequently.
Vaccine Distribution Plan
Inoculating Millersville students is the first priority. The vaccine is being given FREE.
General student population
Vaccines will be given to undergraduate and graduate students (up to and including 24 years of age) who register online. The online registration process will be available starting at noon today (Friday, Nov. 13).
You must have an appointment in order to get the H1N1 vaccine. The only way to get an appointment is to use the course registration process and register in advance online; the schedule will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis (see PDF instructions here).
Signing up for the vaccine is similar to registering for classes on your MAX account. First, use the Web Schedule to search for available vaccination times. Choose "Search by Subject," select the term "H1N1 Vaccine Term 2009" and then choose the subject "H1N1."
Inoculations will be given at the SMC recreation area on the lower level on:
Tuesday, November 17 - 1:30-4:30 p.m.
Wednesday, November 18 - 1:30- 6 p.m.
Thursday, November 19 - 1:30- 4:30 p.m.
You must bring two items to the appointment. The first is a consent form, which you can find on the My'Ville portal. Print this out but do not sign it, and bring it to your appointment. You will be asked to sign it at your appointment. Second, you will be required to show your Millersville student ID card. It is suggested that you wear short sleeves, as the vaccine shot is administered to the upper arm.
Students with high-risk medical conditions
High-risk students should check their Marauder email accounts for instructions on how to get the vaccine. If you feel you are a high-risk student and you did not receive an email from Health Services, please email them at healthservices@millersville.edu and list your medical condition.
People at high-risk, according to the guidelines outlined by the CDC (www.cdc.gov), for developing flu-related complications include people with medical conditions such as:
- Asthma
- Cancer
- Chronic lung disease
- Heart disease
- Blood disorders
- Diabetes
- Kidney disorders
- Liver disorders
- Organ transplants
- Weakened immune system due to disease or medication.
- Pregnant students who cannot be vaccinated at their own OB
Faculty and Staff
As stated earlier, we are hoping that additional vaccine doses are made available to Millersville. Please encourage the students in your classes and/or student workers to take advantage of this free inoculation.
Keep checking this website regularly for updates.
Thank you for your cooperation.
