On Thursday, April 9 Millersville University of Pennsylvania’s Department of Earth Sciences will host the Paul J. McInerney Memorial Lecture, featuring guest speaker Dr. Marcia Politovich.
Politovich is the deputy director of Aviation Applications National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, Colorado. An expert in cloud physics, winter storms and aviation weather, she will speak on aircraft icing, a recent news topic. Politovich will also touch on the problem of diagnosing and forecasting in-flight icing conditions, highlighting current research being performed by the National Center for Atmospheric Research. Most of all, she will explain how recent technologies and improving forecast methods will benefit the public.
The 2009 McInerney Memorial Lecture will take place in Caputo 210, Armstrong Auditorium from 4:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. This lecture is free and open to the public.
