Millersville University will present an honorary degree to former Pennsylvania Senator Gibson E. “Gib” Armstrong at graduation on May 2, 2009. Armstrong will receive an honorary degree of letters.
Armstrong spent more than 30 years serving as an elected official in the Pennsylvania State Assembly. He was a Pennsylvania Senator, representing the 13th district from 1984-2009. He served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, representing the 100th from 1977-1984. Prior to his career as a legislator he was an investment advisor. Armstrong has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Westminster College. He served as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps (1965-69) and is a veteran of the Vietnam War.
Graduation is set for 10 a.m. at Biemesderfer Stadium. There are 1,006 undergraduate and 100 graduate students who will receive their diplomas. For more information on commencement, please go to: http://www.millersville.edu/commencement/.
