1st in National Forecasting Tournament

Each year a group of Millersville meteorology students compete in a national weather forecasting contest, called The Weather Challenge, pitting themselves against other students at meteorology programs across the country. This year, “Team Millersville” finished 9th in the country among a field of over fifty universities. Millersville’s team of 40 forecasters was led by three seniors, who finished the sixth-month contest ranking in the Top 64 in country, out of over 1,500 participants. This rare distinction advanced Erik Pindrock, Shawn Gray, and Bill Deger to the Weather Challenge Tournament, a head-to-head forecasting contest run much like the NCAA Basketball tournament. In the end, Millersville’s own Shawn Gray prevailed over the field—including an upset of the #1 seed—thus capturing the tournament trophy as winner of this National Forecasting Tournament. Congratulations to Shawn, and all the members of Millersville’s team, for an outstanding showing in this national collegiate forecasting competition!
