Educating and empowering yourself to be savvy and safe online will be the topic of a lecture on May 18 on campus. Millersville’s Dr. Nazli Hardy and Penn Manor’s Charlie Reisinger will present "What the 'Twitter.” The lecture on online safety will be held in the University’s Student Memorial Center’s multi-purpose room at 7 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
This event is part of an ongoing lecture series by the Millersville University- Penn Manor CyberPartnership. One of the goals is to connect the community to computing and technology. The partnership was recently named as a Distinguished Award winner by the Civic and Community Engagement and Research.
“Our purpose is to make the most recent developments in the field of information science available to the community,” said Hardy, computer science. “We hope to educate the public about the powerful applications of Web 2.0 and social networking as well as the dangers they pose and how this can impact the rest of their lives. We also want to provide awareness of the current applications to parents in order to empower them to protect their children.”
