Four Corners Festival

Festival of Arts: Theatre, Music, Dance and Art

Individuals are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, picnics, blankets and the whole family for the Four Corners Festival.  The festival celebrates the "Four Corners" of the arts: music, dance, theatre and art.

THE PEOPLE'S SHAKESPEARE PROJECT is thrilled to be a part of the Millersville Four Corners Summer Festival this July bringing their third season of outdoor Shakespeare to the shores of the lake on Millersville University's campus. This year their college performance company, Campus Shakespeare Co., consists of 11 actors and 2 technicians representing five different colleges:  Millersville University, Franklin and Marshall College, Skidmore College, University of Pittsburgh and Elizabethtown College.

Much Ado About Nothing is one of Shakespeare’s beloved comedies consisting of lovers' dueling wits, bumbling detectives, masked balls, evil-doers, dastardly scheming and, of course, weddings. The story focuses on two very different pairs of lovers.  One pair, Beatrice and Benedick, can't stop hurling insults at one another long enough to realize their loathing is fast turning into something akin to love.  The other pair, Hero and Claudio, is the sad victim of a villain’s evil plot. But never fear….love triumphs in the end.  Set in the Cole Porter era of 30’s music, sophisticated banter and screwball comedy, this play is sure to please all.

Family-friendly performances of Much Ado About Nothing will be July 24, 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m.  In case of rain, performances will continue in The Rafters Theatre in Dutcher Hall - conveniently located next door to the lake. Performances are free however there is a suggested donation of $5.00 per person. Drinks and snacks will be available for purchase.

Laura Korach Howell, founder and executive director of The People's Shakespeare Project, is a local actress, director and teacher specializing in Shakespeare. She is a roster artist with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts and a Commonwealth Speaker with the Pennsylvania Humanities Council. Her passion for The Bard led her to create The People's Shakespeare Project in 2006 - a non-profit organization devoted to teaching the joys of Shakespeare through on-your-feet instruction along with performances.
